What is BETA-MICROGLOBULIN?

A small protein located on the surface of many cells, including white blood cells. It is also present in the small amounts in the blood, urine and seminal plasma. It is a component of MHC (major histocompatibility) class I molecules.

BETA-MICROGLOBULIN: "Levels of beta-2 microglobulin are elevated in certain disorders, such as multiple myeloma and lymphoma."
