What is CARBON DIOXIDE?

Chemical compound having two oxygen atoms and one carbon atom(covalently bonded). It exists as a gas at standard atm pressure.and temperature in Earth's atmosphere in this state. CO? is a trace gas comprising 0.039% of the atmosphere. Colorless, odorless, incombustible gas present in the atmosphere and formed during respiration, the decomposition and combustion of organic compounds, and in the reaction of acids with carbonates: used in carbonated drinks, fire extinguishers, and as dry ice for refrigeration. For commercial use it is available as a liquid under high pressure in steel cylinders, as a low temperature liquid at lower pressures, and as the solid dry ice.

CARBON DIOXIDE: "Carbon dioxide levels are higher than at any point since the Industrial Revolution began."
