What is CELL ADHESION MOLECULES?

Class of cell-cell contact membrane proteins in the developing nervous system that is thought to be intimately involved in guiding development during embryonic life; generally trans-membrane receptors and are composed of three domains: an intracellular domain, a trans membrane domain, and an extracellular domain. See adhesion molecules, integrins, selectins.
