What is CHAIN-FOLDED CRYSTAL?

In lamellar crystals, conformation of polymer chains which are perpendicular to the primary flat surface and fold over at that point to maintain continuity. Formation of perfect crystals is possible when dilute polymer solutions are cooled, but are not prevalent in a polymer that has been crystallized in bulk. See crystallization of polymers and panels on Polymers and Polymer synthesis.

CHAIN-FOLDED CRYSTAL: "Some polymers result in chain-folded crystal formation."
