Blue-green algae with chlorophyll a and phycobilins. They reproduce asexually via spores, division fragmentation or homogonia. Some species are simple, unicellular and filamentous, while other live in colony, composed of large number of algae. They can be found in fresh and salt water, in soils and as nitrogen-fixing symbionts of certain flowering plants and lichens.
