What is HIGH-BAND?

A format variant in which the FM carrier frequency is higher than in low-band. allowing room for a greater luminance signal bandwidth to increase the horizontal resolution, and greater frequency deviation to improve the signal-to-noise ratio and tonal gradation. Recordings are imcompatible with low-band. See Beta, Betacam, Hi8, S-VHS, U-matic
