A material made by tanning and other treatment of the hides or skins of a great variety of creatures mosdy domesticated animals, but including also the whale, seal, shark, crocodile, snake, kangaroo, camel and ostrich. Artificial or imitation leathers are based on plasticized polyvinyl chloride or polyurethene, suitably filled with pigment and with an embossed surface to simulate the natural product,
