What is NEWTON'S METHOD?

An iterative method of approximating the solution of an equation fx=0. From an initial estimate xo, the equation is repeatedly used to obtain the sequence x1; x2, *3, ... which will converge to the solution if the initial estimate is sufficiently accurate.
