What is NUCLEASE?

An enzyme which specifically cleaves the 'backbone7 of nucleic acids. Their specificity ranges from those like DNase and RNase which cut the phosphodiester bonds in any DNA or RNA, to restriction enzymes which only cut a particular four or six base-pair sequence,
