What is PLAQUE FORMING CELLS?

Antibody secreting cells detected in vitro by complement fixation as plaques or holes in a field of erythrocytes in agar. The erythrocytes can be coated with various antigens against which numbers of cells secreting specific antibody are measured in a mixed lymphocyte population.
