What is PROTEIN STRUCTURE?

The three dimensional structure of a protein resulting from the sequence of amino acids in the polypeptide chain, the binding of non-protein moieties eg the haem in haemoglobin, and the association with other protein sub-units. Determined primarily by X-ray crystallography of protein crystals, down to a resolution of 0-2 nm.
