What is RACKING RESISTANCE?

Ability of an insulator to withstand surface discharge of electricity, esp over long times. Track formation often occurs at a critical voltage and consists of paths of carbonized material formed by degradation in the case of polymers. Standard tests include measurement of the comparative tracking resistance CTR.
