What is SCHOTTKY DIODE?

A semiconductor diode formed by contact between a semiconductor layer and a metal coating. Hot carriers electrons in n-type material and holes in p-type material are emitted from the Schottky barrier of the semiconductor and move into the metal coating. Majority carriers predominate, so that injection or storage of minority carriers is not present to limit switching speeds.
