What is TETANUS?

A disease due to infection with the tetanus bacillus, Clostridium tetani. The toxin it secretes causes the symptoms and signs of the disease, such as painful tonic spasms of the muscles, which usually begin in the jaw and then spread to other parts. Also lockjaw.
