That the source behind two accessible terminals may be regarded as a constant voltage generator in series with a source impedance. The value of the voltage is that appearing with terminals open circuited and the impedance is that measured at the terminal with all voltage sources open circuited. Often regarded as the dual of Norton's theorem.
