What is THYMIC EPITHELIAL CELLS?

Epithelial cells which ramify throughout the cortex and medulla of the thymus. Although similar in most respects, differences between cortical and medullary epithelial cells are detected by monoclonal antibodies. They are believed to control the maturation of lymphocyte precursors by secretion of peptide hormones thymosins; thymopoietin.
