ACID RAIN

A rain or other type of precipitation that has increased acidity due to elevated levels of hydrogen ions (low pH). Acid rains are generated in the atmosphere when released sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide react with water molecules and produce acids. It has harmful effect on living creatures and infrastructure.

ALGAL BLOOM

A rapid increase in the population of algae in freshwater as well as marine environments. Blooms can be recognized by discoloration of the water, which usually turns green, but it can also become yellow-brown or red in color, depending on the species of algae. Accelerated growth of algae is associated with increased concentration of plant fertilizers in the water.
