What is TREMOLITE?

A monoclinic amphibole, hydrated calcium magnesium silicate. It is usually white or grey and occurs in bladed crystals or fibrous aggregates in metamorphic rocks. It differs from actinolite in having less iron: the name is used for the magnesium end-member. Also gram mat ite.
