What is TUNED-RATE GYRO?

An advanced gyro used in high-performance inertial platforms in inertial navigation systems. A rotor within its casing is spun by an electric motor; applied angular rotations cause the rotor to oscillate which is nullified by pivot springs, so reducing random errors.
