What is ARACHNIDA?

Large group of invertebrates (over 100,000 species) in the subphylum Chelicerata that include spiders, scorpions, harvestmen, ticks, mites and Solifugae. They have eight legs and two additional pairs of appendages that are adapted for feeding, defense, and sensory perception. They mostly inhabit terrestrial ecosystems.
