What is DAMPING MAGNET?

A permanent magnet which provides damping by opposing the motion of the conductor when used in conjunction with disk or other moving conductor.

DAMPING MAGNET: "Magnetic damping is accomplished by reaction between a magnetic field and the current generated by the motion of a coil through the magnetic field."
