What is GRAM-NEGATIVE BACTERIA?

Those bacteria which fail to stain with Gram's reaction. The reaction depends on the complexity of the cell wall and has for long determined a major division between bacterial species. Cf Gram-positive bacteria. See panel on Bacteria
